Young Hercules was a television series which aired for one season from September 12, 1998 to May 14, 1999. It was the second spin-off series of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. The show focused on the adventures of Hercules and his friends while in training at Cheiron's Academy. It was the follow-up to a successful pilot movie, which was itself preceded by several "Young Hercules"-themed episodes during Hercules: The Legendary Journeys' fourth season. The show was targeted at a younger audience than either HTLJ or Xena: Warrior Princess, both of which were catered to adults, or at least families with both adults and children watching. As a result, YH had a 30-minute runtime and, in most markets, aired in the late afternoons on weekdays. The show failed to attract the same success as HTLJ or XWP and was cancelled after one season.

In an age of light and darkness, Zeus, king of the gods, rules the universe. He had a son – young Hercules. Half-god, half-man, young Hercules longs to find his place in the world, the father he's never known and what it means to be a hero. Before the man became legend, before the legend became myth came the greatest adventure of all.
