Hispides was a bearded lady who worked at King Midas' gambling palace, the Golden Touch. When Salmoneus and Hercules arrived at the palace, Hispides was immediately attracted to Salmoneus. She followed him relentlessly but he would barely speak to her until she shaved her beard and proposed a business venture to him. Hispides provided Salmoneus with a small throwing knife which he gave to Hercules to save King Midas and Flaxen from a deathtrap created by Voluptua and Segallus.
