Hera's archers were fit, beautiful women dressed in lightweight, revealing metallic armor consisting of a bustier, skirt, armguards, winged crown, and boots. They carried powerful crossbows that fired bolts forged by Hephaestus.
The archers were immortal beings whose existence was bound to the strings of their crossbows. They were impervious to permanent injury, but if an archer's bowstring was cut, she would instantly vanish in a shower of golden sparks. This would not permanently kill the archer, however, merely banish her, as archers banished in this fashion were seen again later on.
