Cassus was a thief. When he was almost caught robbing a family home in the night he murdered Lyna's family and ran from the villagers, denying that he committed the crime. Hercules chased him into an abandoned mine where their conflict caused a cave in. Cassus was pinned under a large boulder and finally confessed to the crime as he neared death.
Cassus had a son called Nico whom he abandoned after the death of his wife. Iolaus convinced Nico to visit his father shortly before Cassus died.
